President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans are rapidly reshaping the federal government and federal courts, pushing through hundreds of civilian nominees and dozens of judges after GOP leaders overhauled Senate procedures to overcome what they described as relentless Democratic obstruction.
Republicans announced that they will have confirmed 95% of his civilian nominees-a pace that far exceeds the records of Presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama, and even Trump's own first term. As of early August in the second year of each administration, 95% of civilian nominations reported out of committee have been confirmed under Trump's second term. That towers over Obama's 89%, Biden's 89%, and Trump's first-term mark of just 74%.
